Mirkent Residence

Mirkent Residence was designed and constructed in 2021 by Korucuoglu Architecture for Mirkent Real Estate on a 7,500 m² site in Çankaya, Ankara. The project was shaped by a rational layout, both horizontally and vertically, in line with its proximity to the city center and the advantages offered by the topography.

The spatial organization is based on a clear separation of the social and commercial units on the ground level from the residential volumes on the upper levels. This separation is not only functional but also emphasized by the materials and form used on the façade. On the lower level, wood-like vertical elements interwoven with rhythmic glass surfaces warm the dialogue with the ground, while on the upper levels, light-colored surfaces and recessed balconies emphasize a sense of comfort, spaciousness, and privacy.

The project's most distinctive characteristic is its contemporary interpretation of the roof form. This sharp triangular shape, derived from the traditional hipped roof, is not only an aesthetic detail but also an element that connects the space with natural light. This distinctive roof rhythm for each unit creates spatial richness on the upper levels and a dynamic identity on the exterior.

The building's load-bearing structure is dramatically expressed by the V-shaped columns on the ground floor. These columns greet the user not only as a structural but also as an architectural gesture, creating a powerful welcoming effect at the building's entrance level.

This architectural design, supported by nighttime lighting, transforms the building into a landmark for the city not only during the day but also in the dark. The social spaces on the ground floor are supported by open spaces to encourage pedestrian circulation, transforming the building into a living, breathing organism at the street level.

Mirkent Residence reinterprets forms ingrained in Ankara's urban memory, offering a user-friendly and high-quality living proposition. Bridging modern lines with tradition, this project presents a respectful yet assertive stance within the city.
