Concept
A tower, a floor and the endless sea… A tropical silhouette symphony.
Located on a 67,000 m² site along Mozambique's coastline, the Akay Mozambique Project is the product of a visionary design approach that aims to combine the natural beauty of the region with a modern urban lifestyle. Conceptually conceived in 2018, this project blends a structural design compatible with the local climate with contemporary urbanization principles, offering a contemporary living proposal unique to coastal cities.
The project rises with two main towers, while a wide plinth at the ground level, accommodating commercial and public uses, fosters pedestrian activity and social interaction. One tower presents a calming presence with its simple, opaque façade, while the other captures the contrast with a more rhythmic, permeable, and playful façade arrangement. With their sloping upper elevations, these two masses not only add an iconic silhouette to the city's skyline but also offer a panoramic experience for the user with the terrace gardens created on the rooftop.
Reflective glass surfaces used on the facades refract tropical light, creating a controlled illumination within the interior. From the outside, the building establishes a strong connection with its surroundings by reflecting the ever-changing sky, sea, and surrounding landscape. The façade's pixelated window openings also give the building a digital identity.
Located at the intersection of transportation axes and oriented towards the sea, Akay Mozambique stands out as a city with both high investment value and a strong livability. The project is not just a physical structure; it is also an architectural contribution to Africa's growing urban vision.
