Reconnect with Nature in the City

YDA Residences is a high-density residential and mixed-use project located on a vast 460,000 m² site in Ankara. The project consists of high-rise residential blocks positioned around a large landscaped area at the center. This circular, introverted layout enhances privacy and provides residents with a continuous visual and physical connection to green spaces, water features, and social amenities.

The central recreational area at the heart of the project is equipped with reflecting pools, playgrounds, walking trails, and thematic gardens. Level differences and ground manipulations between the blocks create distinct public and semi-public spaces, aiming for a multi-layered use of open space.

The linear commercial axis located at the front of the project boundary establishes a strong connection with the street, creating an active social focus for both users and residents. This permeable relationship between the commercial units and the residential area constitutes one of the most important structural elements of the mixed-use development.

The horizontal lines and balcony layout used in the façade designs offer a modern aesthetic, while the rhythmic alignment of the buildings creates a unified silhouette. Furthermore, each block's orientation towards an inner courtyard ensures maximum daylight and views throughout the apartments.

The YDA Residences, designed as a concept project in 2011 but never implemented, have earned their place in the architectural archives as a prestigious example. Both their scale and their integrated approach to the landscaped living spaces make them a pioneering project of their time.
